Glittering Celtic review appears on Bodo/Glimt website ahead of Thursday clash

Bodo/Glimt have provided a glittering review of Celtic as they attempted to give their fans a rundown of the Hoops ahead of tomorrow night.

Celtic will welcome Bodo to Parkhead for their last-32 first-leg clash as the UEFA Europa Conference League gets back up and running again.

Many will be expecting Celtic to ease through to the next round given the situation with the Norwegians. Currently in pre-season and still rebuilding their squad, they’re anything but the finished article under Kjetil Knutsen. And they certainly don’t have the history Celtic do in Europe either.

The Bhoys’ illustrious reputation has been bigged up by our Euro foes in the build-up to tomorrow night too. As Bodo took to their official website to write up on Celtic, they labelled Celtic a “Scottish superpower” and claimed we are a “team in great shape”. The Norwegians made the following remarks:

“On the opposite half of the field on Thursday, a Celtic team is full of confidence. A couple of weeks ago, they took back the top of the table in the domestic league after smashing arch-rival Rangers 3-0 at home. Not only do they lead the league and beat their bitter enemies, but they are undefeated in the last 17 games. In fact, they have not lost since the penultimate group game match in the Europe League against Leverkusen from Germany in November last year. In other words, there is no easy task that awaits Glimt on Thursday.

“When we think of Scottish football, we are not thinking of big stars at big clubs or a national team sweeping across Europe. No, it’s Celtic and it’s Rangers. The two big Scottish clubs that have shared every single league championship since the 80’s. The two giants.

“Just to say something about how dominant the two clubs have been, we can take a look at Celtic’s medal cabinet. Shall we? Since its first league championship in 1893, Celtic have won the Scottish elite league 51 times. They have been named cup champion 40 times and league cup champion 20 times. In addition, they have also won one European tournament. In 1967, Celtic won the European Cup, which has today been renamed the Champions League. With a team consisting exclusively of local players (all born less than 50 km from Celtic Park) they beat Inter in the final in Lisbon and thus became the first club in Europe to secure “the treble”, ie gold in the domestic league and cup in addition to a European trophy the same season.”

Bodo/Glimt do their Celtic homework

It’s going to be an absolute cracker at Parkhead on Thursday night. You can sense a real performance being brewed up by Ange Postecoglou’s Celtic here. Especially given how disappointing many of the fringe stars were against Raith Rovers on Sunday.

You also get the feeling that the Europa Conference League has still to really be accepted by Celtic supporters. Highlighted by the fact that tomorrow night doesn’t look like being a sell-out. Instead, it looks as though the Hoops could be welcoming around 50k+ into Parkhead tomorrow night.

A victory over Glimt and progression into the last-16 would certainly help to capture the imagination. This is a plausible chance of doing something in a major European competition. Winning it may be a touch premature, but we certainly have a chance to go deep into the tournament.

That would be a fantastic look for Ange Postecoglou and would shine further light on just how much progress he’s making in Glasgow. There’s a lot more riding on tomorrow night than some may realise. The last thing the manager wants is our momentum in 2022 to be halted after racking up 8 consecutive wins.

It’s clear that Glimt has a great respect for Celtic. How could you not when you reel off our historical success? But it’s time for us to start writing some new chapters in Europe under Ange.

Unfortunately for Bodo, they’re the first opponent in our sights. Hopefully, we can make our mark against them and increase excitement levels further in 2022.
