Celtic midfielder Callum McGregor has been full of praise for interim manager Neil Lennon. McGregor has gone as far as to claim that Lennon should be appointed the next permanent boss at Celtic Park.
“He has come in, thrown himself into the job and been brilliant” he said, as reported by Football Scotland.
“How good a job he has done”

“Although the performances haven’t been top notch, we are still winning, we are still in the hunt for two trophies, so I do think people are underestimating how good a job he has done.”
Whilst it is good to see a player back his manager, McGregor’s comments should have no bearing on who the next manager is.

Celtic board will make decision
The people who will make the decision will be Peter Lawwell and Dermot Desmond. If they can find a better manager than Neil Lennon so be it.

There’s no doubt Lennon will be a candidate for the job. His results have been good. Even if, as McGregor says, the performances haven’t always been great.
The fact that the players are seemingly behind Lennon getting the job will no doubt be taken into account.
But when all is said and done, the decision will not be down to the players. It will be down to the Celtic board. Lennon is doing all he can, but that might not be enough to secure him the job permanently.
