Former Scotland international Gordon Greer reckons that Celtic will give Greg Taylor the platform to “kick on” in his football career.
Full-back Taylor is yet to play a single minute of football for his new club since signing at the start of September. The former Kilmarnock man has only made the Hoops matchday squad on one occasion and hasn’t kicked a ball in anger since the middle of August.

Yet Greer, who played with Taylor at the Ayrshire club, reckons the move will still prove to be a match made in heaven.
“Greg was one who was keen to learn,” he told the Daily Record. “He works hard and has determination – but he also has ability.
“I think it will suit him at Celtic. Will all due respect to Kilmarnock, we were a good side, but he will be training and playing with better players.

“Greg will have more of the ball and be able to get forward more. It’ll help him kick on.”
Greer sees in Taylor what a lot of the Celtic support do
One of the most appealing aspects of Taylor’s summer move was the potential he has to improve. He’s been a consistent performer for a good Kilmarnock side over the past couple of years but there was a real feeling that we could turn him into a far superior player.
The full-back does the basics well, much like his Celtic predecessor Kieran Tierney. He defends competently and can also get forward in attack, adding assists and goals to his game in recent years.

But, as Greer says, just playing with better players and at a higher level could help to bring Taylor on as a footballer. His biggest appearance so far came away to Belgium while playing for Scotland. Taylor went up against the world’s top ranked team and took the step up comfortably in his stride.
The hope is that he can do the same for Celtic over the next couple of seasons. It would just be nice to actually get to see him in action after the international break. Hopefully we’re not waiting too much longer.
