Gordon Strachan has heaped the praise on the Celtic front three of James Forrest, Odsonne Edouard and Ryan Christie who helped to unlock the door at Tynecastle as we strolled to a 2-0 win.
Things were looking a little hairy before Christie struck on the 28 minute mark with an incisive left-footed shot. The quality oozed out of the goal with Edouard’s delicate back-heel another moment of obvious brilliance.
And the talent wasn’t lost on former Hoops boss Strachan who spoke glowingly about the trio’s ability and understanding post-match on BT Sport‘s coverage of the game.
“What you’ve got there is three great players playing with each other,” Strachan said. “You don’t practice that. That’s three players understanding where the right position is to be.
“As coaches we can put them into certain positions. But having ability to make decisions like that and do things like that makes them different from most teams.
“Christie has everything needed to play as a modern attacking forward.”
Strachan spotted real quality in Tynecastle win
The goal was a sparkling reminder of just how good Celtic can be in the final third. We had struggled badly prior to the strike, with Hearts’ commitment to the game seeming to startle us a little.
But quality will always shine through and that’s exactly what happened with Christie’s finish. Edouard’s flick was delicious and Forrest knew exactly where he was in his surroundings.
Christie could have found his international team-mate in space but his curled effort was a thing of beauty. With talent like that at the top end of the pitch we will always stand a chance in matches, no matter how we’re playing nor the opposition.
That trio have 45 goals between them already this campaign. That number could still double with the amount of games we’ve got to play. With quality like that on show at Tynecastle, more goals are absolutely inevitable.
