Former Rangers player-manager Graeme Souness hopes Neil Lennon doesn’t get the Celtic job.

The Sky Pundit told the TV channel that it will be better for the Gers if he doesn’t get the job.

The man who started 9-in-a-row in the late 80s, is scared the Irishman will top that record.

However, not even Souness knows if the Hoops are going to extend his Parkhead stay next season.

The former Rangers man is gushing over who he calls a ‘good man’.

They are on opposite ends of the Glasgow spectrum but there seems to be a respect and friendship built up.

The Daily Record reports: “Neil Lennon knows his stuff. In fact, I hope they don’t employ him, as a Rangers supporter.

“But I want him to keep the job as he’s a good guy – and I mean that.

“They’d be crazy to get rid of him.”

This a massive backing from someone who has similar upbringing in the Glasgow football environment.

They are very similar figures for their respective teams and if you cut them open they’ll bleed their colours.

This shows why Souness wants Lennon nowhere near the Celtic job, but is he right?

Celtic can’t refuse a treble winning Neil Lennon?

One thing Souness failed to do as player and boss was to win the domestic treble.

Lennon hasn’t done it too but is on the cusp of getting that over the line at Celtic.

Unfortunately, he will only have guided the club to two of the three trophies as Brendan Rodgers won the League Cup at the end of last year.

However, it will be seen a Lennon treble win if he manages to overcome Hearts at Hampden at the end of the month.

Can there be an argument against Lennon getting the job?

He will have came in and went undefeated and won two trophies in a few months.

The board have a difficult decision at the end of the season.
