Former Rangers defender Graham Roberts is backing Celtic to win nine consecutive league titles.

However, only if The Bhoys lose tonight and drop out of the Europa League.

Neil Lennon’s men are in front in the play-off tie with a two goal advantage from Parkhead.

However, Celtic are prone to bumpiness on the road so the game may still hang in the balance.

Only a few games in has seen both sides of Glasgow blowing away far poorer sides.

Rangers are trying to stop the Hoops getting the all important nine and 10 consecutive titles. They are improving but it will all come down to how the full league season pans out.

Ex-Gers stopper Roberts thinks a European distraction will be detrimental to Celtic’s title hopes.

He told TalkSport: “I think if Celtic got knocked out of the Europa League then they would win the league because I think it’s a lot more pressure on Rangers.

“But I think both of them getting through is good for Scottish football again.”

Roberts’ old team have a harder job to do tonight against Legia Warsaw as the first leg ended goalless.

Perhaps Roberts would think the same about Rangers should they exit the Europa League.

Former Rangers manager backing old club

One man sticking his neck out for his old club is ex-gaffer Mark Warburton. The QPR manager thinks that Rangers will tip Celtic to the title but also get all three points on Sunday.

Celtic and Rangers clash at Ibrox to see who will blink first and take a lead.

He told Sky Sports: “I believe this year is Rangers’ year. I think last year was maybe a bit too early and this year is Rangers’ time.”

Some Celtic fans will say that it’s the same old bluster every season from their bitter rivals.

Every year has been ‘their year’ since Rangers were promoted from the Scottish Championship.

However, if it is Rangers’ year, the blame doesn’t lay at the fans’ door but rather the board’s. They should be pulling out all the stops in this transfer window to make sure that doesn’t happen.
