Luke Littler has properly made it now after being snapped with a former Celtic hero at the weekend.

The newly-crowned PDC World Darts champion was at Old Trafford to present his trophy at the weekend when he bumped into a former Celtic player behind the scenes.

Having played for both Celtic and Manchester United, this ex-Celt took the opportunity to grab a photo with the young darts phenomenon to post on his social media account on X.

Lou Macari hails Luke Littler as Celtic hero in awe of ‘great champion’

Lou Macari played for Celtic between 1966 and 1968 and was part of the famous ‘Quality Street Gang’ that included legendary names like Kenny Dalglish, Davie Hay and Danny McGrain.

But the ex-Hoops midfielder didn’t waste time in nabbing a cheeky snap with Littler to post on his social media account on X.

Macari said, “No, I didn’t challenge him to a game of darts at Old Trafford this afternoon. A great champion.”

At just 17, Littler became the youngest-ever World Darts Champion after beating Michael van Gerwin in the 2025 final.

Many Celtic fans of this era will recall remember Macari simply from his disastrous management spell at Celtic Park in 1993.

Lasting just eight months in the Parkhead hotseat, Macari oversaw 34 games in the Parkhead dugout with just 12 wins, 14 draws and eight defeats as Celtic finished in 4th place on 50 points behind winners, Rangers, runners-up Aberdeen and third placed Motherwell.

To be fair to Macari, he took over at Celtic during the most turbulent time in their history where not many managers, if any, could have saved the Parkhead club during that period.

However, it was as a player where Macari reached hero status in the eyes of Celtic and Manchester United fans with his successes on the pitch and winners medals.
