Celtic fans on social media have been reminiscing about one of the best ever players to pull on a Hooped jersey.

The club’s official Twitter account revealed that it was 22 years ago to the day that Henrik Larsson joined the Hoops from Feyenoord.

Larsson went on to become a Celtic legend in his seven years with the club, scoring 242 goals. One fan on social media went as far as to claim that the player was Celtic’s ‘greatest ever’.

Larsson’s best season for Celtic was probably 2000-01. He recovered from a severe leg injury to win the Hoops their first domestic treble in 32 years. He scored 53 goals in the process.

A notable mention also has to go to season 2002-03. He was part of the Celtic side which reached the UEFA Cup Final in a never to be forgotten run of results.

His two goals in the final only added to his stature at Celtic Park. Celtic may have had some good strikers since Larsson left the club 15 years ago.

Few are likely to come close to Larsson though, especially in the eyes of the fans. He will always be a Celtic legend.
