The Green Brigade have promised to deliver a display commemorating both Billy McNeill and Stevie Chalmers at this weekend’s Scottish Cup final. Celtic’s current stars will go for treble treble glory on the 25th May – the same day the Lisbon Lions won the European Cup in 1967.

The players will be led out by their managers into a wall of noise and colour at the National Stadium. Celtic’s men are likely to get a boost too if the Green Brigade’s statement is anything to go by.

The fans group promise to “create a fixed wall of colour to drive our team on every step of the way to history”. They plan to have Celtic fans wearing bibs throughout the match similar to the 5-1 victory over Rangers in 2016.

What will the display be?

The Green Brigade’s statement also contained details of an intricate plan to have members in the “traditional Celtic end” mask their bibs with a second piece of material.

The plan would then be for those fans to release their second display, revealing the original image throughout the match.

Of course, the display hasn’t been revealed and won’t be until just before 3pm on Saturday. It is likely to include some sort of words or perhaps even an image of the two late Lions.

One thing’s for sure, the full Celtic is going to look spectacular decked out in colour during the match. The Irish tricolour display in the corner was one of the finest images of the 5-1 victory over Rangers in 2016.

Anything similar is likely to spur the team on to glory this weekend, while paying tribute to both Chalmers and McNeill.
