The Green Brigade have thanked the wider Celtic support for their contributions to the stadium-wide tifo that lit up Paradise before the team’s 2-0 win over Aberdeen on Sunday.

The tifo was entirely funded by the wider fanbase, as part of an ongoing crowdfunding campaign launched by the ultras section at the end of last season.

In a statement published on the North Curve Celtic Twitter account, the Green Brigade wrote: “On Sunday, the Celtic support rallied together to produce a spectacle to celebrate last season’s triumph and inspire the team to repeat that success this season. The tifo was funded by the Celtic support and cost a total of £22,227.66.

“It was planned and designed by the Green Brigade and together with members of North Curve Celtic, around 38 hours was spent setting up the tifo across seven days.

“This season the Green Brigade launched a tifo fund to help finance bigger and better tifos at Celtic Park, which includes at least two full stadium tifos.

“Currently the accumulative total sits at £26,866. The total Green Brigade spend for the season so far is £24,890.15.

“We want to thank everyone who has donated so far. You have made our efforts possible, and we hope that through your continued backing we can keep producing memorable tifos for the team and support.

“Should you wish to donate to these efforts, this fund will remain open throughout the season and we will update the page periodically to reflect spend.”

The Green Brigade were founded in 2006, and have contributed heavily to making Celtic Park one of the most well-regarded grounds for atmosphere in Europe, in addition to routinely organising charity campaigns and foodbank drives.

The stadium-wide display was the third arranged by the ultras group, following the tifos arranged for the 2-1 win over Barcelona marking Celtic’s 125th anniversary, and the 2-0 win over Hearts to mark the club’s invincible league season, as well as the 50th anniversary of the Lisbon Lions’ European Cup triumph.

The ongoing tifo donation fund has a new target of £30,000, with further displays planned for the season ahead.
