It took almost two months to happen, but eight weeks after signing for Celtic Greg Taylor made his first-team debut for the Hoops in the 2-0 win over St Mirren on Wednesday night.

Taylor turned in a solid display in the game, getting forward on a regular basis as the cruised to victory. He took to social media after the game. The player delivered what could be described as a telling verdict on his Hoops debut.

“What a feeling”

“Waited a long time for that, what a feeling to make my debut at Celtic Park. Important 3 points” he said.

The fact that he said ‘waited a long time’ is perhaps quite telling. The player may have been slightly frustrated that he didn’t even make a substitute appearance in his opening weeks with the club.

However, now he has featured for the first-team and will be hoping to become a first-team regular for the Hoops. One unfortunate aspect for the player is that he is cup tied for the Betfred Cup semi-final clash against Hibs on Saturday.

Second chance may come in a few weeks

However, there must be a real chance that he will make his second Hoops appearance when the Hoops return to league duty in a few weeks’ time.

They will take on Motherwell on the 10th of November. Coming only three days after the Europa League game against Lazio, Neil Lennon may well make changes to his side for that game. That could give Taylor another chance to impress.

At the moment, Taylor is second choice left-back to Boli Bolingoli. He will need games to change that situation. He will be hoping that he doesn’t have to wait as long for his second Celtic appearance.
