New Celtic recruit Greg Taylor certainly takes no prisoners on the pitch. That much was shown during an altercation he had with former Hoops man Timothy Weah during a game last season.
Brendan Rodgers’ side had just taken a dramatic three points at Rugby Park when Weah and Taylor clashed. Television pictures seemed to show the American mouthing off to the full-back before he was pushed by hot-head Jordan Jones.

Weah received a booking for his troubles but it was clear that Taylor wasn’t backing down either. The new Celtic signing had earlier barged into Weah after the American had curled a shot into the post. Clearly there was no love lost there.

Taylor has the mentality to play for Celtic
While Celtic fans were clearly backing Weah at the time, their view of the incident may have changed now. Taylor was clearly up for the fight, not fazed by the fact that Weah was one of the hottest properties in Europe.
That kind of aggression and will to die for the shirt is what will likely make Taylor a bit of a cult hero at Parkhead. The Celtic fanbase warmed to Kieran Tierney right from the beginning for three reasons: he was an academy graduate, a Celtic fan, and he gave his all for the cause.
Taylor can only claim one of those three traits but he’ll still be adored if he fights tooth and nail every single week. The Scotland international is a steady full-back who likes to defend first and foremost but can also add strength in attack.

He’s a very different player to Boli Bolingoli and that can only be a good thing as Neil Lennon assesses his options. The Belgian may be more of an explosive full-back who will be crucial in breaking teams down. Taylor is likely to be more dependable in big games.
It’s just great that we have two promising options in the position now after seemingly having none not so long ago.
