Greg Taylor says no Celtic bid has come in

Kilmarnock man Greg Taylor’s future continues to be up in the air, but he’s claimed that so far there’s been no offer from Celtic this summer.

Celtic have been linked with a move for the Killie man. The signing of Boli Bolingoli-Mbombo has turned out to be a failure so far. The Belgian is struggling to convince Celtic supporters, and another signing is necessary for the position.

Kilmarnock’s Taylor has been a consistent performer over the last couple of years for the Ayrshire side. He was also recently capped by Steve Clarke for Scotland. However, everyone at Rugby Park is finding life more difficult under Angelo Alessio.

But even so, Taylor has stated that he’s had no offers from Celtic as of yet. Speaking in the Daily Record, the left-back had this to say:

“I’m contracted to Kilmarnock so I’ve just got to keep doing what I can. If that’s enough to impress other teams that can only be a positive.

“I’ve not had to speak to the manager about it yet because there’s not been a bid come in. You don’t really have any choice, you’ve got to do your job on a Saturday.

“If you’re not doing that the suitors and talk about moves will quickly go away. So it’s important to get the head down and just work hard.”

Taylor’s future could be anywhere at this point

It’s still unclear as to whether Celtic will actually go for the Kilmarnock man. Nobody can deny that the Hoops are in desperate need of further strengthening in that position.

Even if Boli turns out to be a success, cover is still required. Jonny Hayes may be able to play at left-back, but Celtic really do need better than that in the area. Hayes played against Dunfermline and didn’t look too sharp on Saturday.

But it seems as though Celtic may have to splash out if they have their eyes on Taylor too. The left-back has isn’t going anywhere according to Alessio (BBC). The Killie manager wants to keep his best players, and given his struggling start, you can see why.

Celtic have until September 2nd to get Taylor in if they want him. But there must also be other options on their radar too.

Only yesterday, for example, they were linked with a move for Birger Meling by the Herald. That’s perhaps a move that many in the Celtic support would prefer to get done.

But for now we just have to watch this space. As it stands, however, there’s clearly been no bid for Killie’s Taylor.
