Hamilton Accies coach Guillaume Beuzelin has stated that his youth players would all ask about Karamoko Dembele.
The Celtic super-talent has today been listed by French outlet L’Equipe as one of six of the world’s top youngsters. It comes after he broke through to the Celtic under-20 squad at just 13 years of age. He would then make his Celtic debut at 16 against Hearts.
Dembele has yet to make an appearance this season, but it hasn’t stopped speculation over his future. The Scottish Sun reported several days ago that some big European heavyweights were eyeing him up. At the moment, however, Celtic have no offers to worry about.
And speaking to L’Equipe in the Dembele section of their feature, Beuzelin claimed that his Accies kids all wanted to play against him.
“When my boys had to face a Celtic team, all week they would ask if Dembele is going to play. And on Saturdays, they were feverishly waiting for the teamsheet.
“He’s a crazy dribbler, very solid on his supports. He has a real sense of purpose and real intelligence. He loves to attract opponents to him before sending a decisive pass to a partner.
“The presence or absence of Karamoko completely conditioned their preparation.”
Incredible comments for Dembele to hear
These will likely fly under the radar, but these are simply wonderful comments for Dembele’s confidence. To know that he has youth players around Scotland asking if he’s playing shows just how special he is.
If it was happening at Hamilton, you can bet it’s happening elsewhere in Scotland too. He’s continuing to play with the development squad for now, and will undoubtedly be exciting opposition players around the country.
The quote from Beuzelin about his players preparing differently if Dembele was playing is telling. This isn’t just hype regarding the England youth international. He really has all of the tools to be the real deal.
Stephen McManus and Tommy McIntyre now have a big job on their hands. Not only are they tasked with developing the youngster on the pitch, but they have to keep him grounded now.
Out of nowhere it seems, Dembele is suddenly gaining plenty of attraction around Europe. The development team coaches must make sure none of it goes to his head.
We’ve seen the dangers of that in the past with Islam Feruz the outstanding candidate. That’s the kind of career Karamoko seriously has to avoid. But so far, he’s shown no signs of having any arrogance about him. And these comments from Beuzelin show just how much of an attraction he is.
