Last night, Celtic supporters were treated to the dulcet tones of BBC commentator Guy Mowbray.
On the night Celtic comfortably beat AZ Alkmaar in the Europa League, the club used a Pay Per View service to broadcast the game. It didnโt go perfectly, with many usersโ service cutting out around the time of Kyogoโs opener.
However, for the rest of the broadcast, the veteran commentator delighted Celtic fans with his insights, research and on-air chemistry with John Hartson.
There was even a moment in which the Icelandic Finance Minister got a brief shout-out.
Mowbray, you might remember, commentated on a famous Celtic victory. On a famous night 20 years ago, the Bhoys beat a fantastic Juventus side 4-3. Goals from Petrov, Sutton (2) and Henrik Larsson saw off the Old Lady [UEFA].
That game shows how long Mowbray has been at the top of his profession. A commentator for BBC and BT Sport nowadays, the broadcaster became the youngest ever to commentate on a World Cup final, for Eurosport in 1998.
As for the game itself? Mowbray had plenty to talk about. Celtic impressed at both ends of the park. In a frantic game, the Bhoys kept a clean sheet primarily through the efforts of Stephen Welsh, Anthony Ralston and Joe Hart.
At the end other end, it was Kyogo causing havoc again, with James Forrest and Tom Rogic on song.
