Hard work set to get underway from today for Celtic squad

The hard work will get underway for the Celtic squad today as Ange Postecoglou’s side gets set for the second half of the campaign.

The Bhoys’ domestic action came to a half last month due to the World Cup taking place in Qatar, with four current members of the Celtic squad featuring for their nation.

For most teams, they took the first week off to relax. But not for Postecoglou and his players, who instead headed out to Sydney.

The trip down under allowed the Hoops squad to continue keeping up their match fitness, and the club were involved in two friendly outings against Sydney FC and Everton.

Following the conclusion of our involvement in the Sydney Super Cup, the players were granted some time off to rest and rejuvenate ahead of a busy return to competitive fixtures.

However, for those not at the World Cup, that time off is expected to end today, with Postecoglou’s squad set to report back to Lennoxtown [Sun Sport].

And the hard work preparing for the second half of the campaign looks set to get underway shortly after, with the Bhoys visiting Portugal next week.

The warm-weather training camp will allow the Hoops to build up their fitness once again, and I am sure the Celtic manager and coaching staff will be looking forward to some time working on the training pitch.

Celtic are also set to be involved in another friendly fixture before our return, taking on French Ligue 1 side Rennes in what should be another competitive match-up.

Celtic set for ideal preparations in Portugal.

Although I am sure the majority of the squad would have continued to work hard to keep their fitness levels high during their break, the trip to Portugal will be the perfect preparation before the season kick starts again.

The former Socceroos boss will be keen to utilise this time, and it could be seen as a mini pre-season before another huge run of games.

The Bhoys will be thrown straight into the thick of things on their return, playing five games in 16 days, which includes trips to Pittodrie, Easter Road and Ibrox.

So this time spent in Portugal is likely going to be crucial to the preparations for the second half of the campaign.

I am sure it won’t be long until we see some content coming out of Lennoxtown from the club as players mark their return from some well-deserved time off.

Ange Postecoglou will be quick to remind them that is now over, though, with the hard work getting underway from today.
