Celtic legend John Hartson has paid tribute to Scott Brown as his third goal in as many weeks booked the Hoops a place in the Scottish Cup semi-final.

The Hoops skipper smashed the ball home from just inside the penalty box to give the Hoops a 2-0 win over Hibernian.

And Hartson hailed Brown on Twitter, claiming that he was ‘prolific’ and should be ‘up front’ for the Hoops.

Hartson is naturally not being entirely serious here, but Brown adding goals to his game is completely unexpected.

Three big goals

He scored his first goal in two years against St Johnstone in the last round of the Scottish Cup. Then his late winner at Kilmarnock sealed a huge win for the Hoops in the title race.

Brown will be looking to add to his goal tally as the Hoops roll on in their quest to win a domestic treble.

Struggled to break Hibs down

As for the game itself, the Hoops struggled against a stuffy Hibs side, before a superb curling finish from James Forrest opened the scoring.

Brown’s second clinched the game, and the Hoops reached the semi-final for the fourth season in a row. Neil Lennon has adapted well to life as interim Celtic boss. He has managed to navigate two difficult away games with two wins. That is all Celtic would have hoped for, and credit is due to all at the club, including goal machine Brown.
