Ahead of Celtic’s Betfred Cup Final on Sunday, fans will no doubt be wondering about the team that will be selected by Neil Lennon to take on Rangers at Hampden Park.
Celtic’s section choice is still a bit up in the there due to injuries, and Neil Lennon will have decisions to make on who plays left and right-back, and if Odsonne Edouard is fit enough to start the game.
Another player who could be under consideration to feature in the game is Celtic’s loanee from Southampton Mohamed Elyounoussi.
The player has been out of action for a few weeks with foot injury. However, some comments from the Hoops boss Neil Lennon seem to possibly indicate that he could return to the starting line-up at Hampden Park.
“Naturally very fit”
“He’s a naturally very fit lad” Lennon said, as reported by the National.
“He has trained the last three or four days, and he has been working with the physios and fitness boys all week. If he is fit and available, he has got a good chance to play.”
It would be a gamble starting Elyounoussi when he has been out of action for a few weeks. However, he is a player that is worth taking a risk over. Since joining the Hoops in the summer transfer window he has been a revelation for the Bhoys.
Hit the ground running with the Hoops
In only 12 games for Celtic so far, he has contributed seven goals and six assists. That is a record to be proud of. He has hit the ground running at the club, and when the strongest team is selected, Elyounoussi should certainly be selected.
Neil Lennon sounds confident that the player has shaken off his injury and is ready to go for the Hoops at Hampden. Should that be the case, he should be named in the starting line-up. He is more than capable of tearing Rangers to shreds and putting on a match-winning performance.
