Celtic players last night took to Instagram to celebrate yesterday’s crucial 2-1 win over Motherwell at Paradise that regained the champions’ place at the top of the Scottish Premiership
Many of the posts acknowledged the tough shift against the Steelmen, with the Hoops having to dig deep after Callum McGregor’s late red card, their winner coming courtesy of Reo Hatate’s stunning winner after the hour mark.
Accompanying a photo of him celebrating with the Japanese star, Moritz Jenz said: “Not our cleanest performance, but at the end we took the 3 points 🍀 Now we prepare ourselves for Leipzig. 💚”
The match-winner Hatate also posted after the victory, his caption reading: “Thank you so much my teammates🍀
We keep going!”
In his post, Joe Hart said: “Not perfect but we will always look to improve 💚important win to start a really busy schedule 💪💪 awesome support today 🍀”
Kyogo, who scored Celtic’s opener, also joined in, his post reading: “Tough match but 3 important points stay in Paradise 🍀🙆🏼♂️ Happy to be back home !”
Stephen Welsh acknowledged the hard-fought nature of the victory with his post, adding: “Not at our best but a good result in the end. Keep pushing👊🍀”
Oliver Abildgaard rounded off the posts with a simple caption acknowledging his first appearance in Celtic colours, stating: “First win at paradise @celticfc 😁”
Whilst the players are right to celebrate after a victory, it’s always good to see them mention the difficulty of the game, with no-one getting too carried away with the performance given the more difficult games on paper to come.
Clearly there’s a camaraderie and good spirit within the group, so the individual errors that led to Motherwell’s equaliser and Callum McGregor’s red card will be points for improvement without being points of contention.
Regardless, the players will be well aware that they’ll need to raise their levels to take anything from a huge game on Wednesday away to Leipzig in the Champions League, the outcome of which will go a long way to deciding who progresses from Group F.
