Celtic’s performances in the Europa League have been excellent so far this season. The Hoops are unbeaten in three games, and sit top of Group E of the competition.

A victory over Lazio in Rome on Thursday would all but see the Hoops reach the last 32 of the competition. Hatem Abd Elhamed has started all of Celtic’s Europa League group stage matches.

Therefore, he is ideally placed to give his view on how the Bhoys have played in the competition thus far. He is very confident that the Hoops can get a result in Rome.

“After what happened in Glasgow, for sure they want to beat us” he said, as reported by the Evening Times.

“But I think we are a very good team, and we go there to get a good result.”

“We have confidence”

“We have confidence. We feel that now we are a great team. If we win there, we will believe in ourselves even more. It could really be the beginning of something.”

A win for Celtic in Rome would be one of Celtic’s best results in Europe for a long time. It would be a real feather in the cap of Neil Lennon and his Celtic players.

As Elhamed says, it could be the ‘beginning’ of a run for the Hoops in the Europa League. It doesn’t mean that the Hoops will win the tournament, but they could go into any game without an inferiority complex should they come away from Rome with a victory.

It could be a very special night indeed for the Hoops, the £1.6 million man Elhamed certainly thinks it could be.
