It looks like a matter of time before Celtic seal a deal for the Israeli defender Hatem Abd Elhamed.
The Hapoel Be’er Sheva man has been linked with a move to Glasgow in recent weeks with the Scottish Sun recently reporting that he will sign a four-year deal with the Scottish champions in the coming days.
A move for Abd Elhamed seems all but done but Hoops fans will still be pleased to hear his current boss give him the green light.
The Sun also have some quotes from Be’er Sheva manager Barak Bakhar and he admits that his player has earned the move.
Bakhar said: “It’s natural that Hatem will go to a big club like Celtic that pays him a lot of money.”
Is Abd Elhamed ready for Celtic?
It’s hard to judge the signing of Abd Elhamed without seeing him play. Unlike our previous signings so far this summer, not too much is known about the player or what he will be able to offer us.
He has spent the majority of his career in both Israel and Belgium although he did also spend some time at Dinamo Bucharest. Celtic will be the biggest club he’s ever played for by far but that could be said about the majority of the signings we make.
He seems to be versatile which could be extremely beneficial to us after losing Mikael Lustig. The Swede could play at both right-back and centre-back so to have someone back in covering both of those roles would be great.
