Celtic defender Hatem Abd Elhamed thinks Scott Bain is the funniest player in Neil Lennon’s dressing room, he revealed in a club question and answer session.
The official Celtic Instagram account has been running regular opportunities for fans to ask the players their thoughts on a variety of subjects while everyone is doing their best to stay indoors.
Elhamed was up this week and was asked which of his teammates was the funniest, replying: “Scott Bain! He’s a character and has a great sense of humour. He always shares funny stories in the dressing room.”
It’s an interesting response considering Bain has made only a handful of appearances this season, struggling with injury and being kept out of the team by the imperious Fraser Forster.
The Scotland international has played just once since the end of August, in a 3-0 cup win over lower league Clyde.
Still, it appears he still provides a bit of much-needed spirit to the dressing room, helping new signings like Elhamed settle into the culture of the club.
Bain may well have a more prominent role at Celtic next season with Craig Gordon’s contract due to expire and Fraser Forster only in Glasgow on a temporary loan.
Could Bain become Neil Lennon’s number one, or will the club push the boat out to land Forster on a permanent basis?
Regardless, Elhamed will likely get to enjoy Bain’s banter for a while yet.
