Celtic star Mikey Johnston has been receiving plenty of upbeat feedback on Instagram over the last 24 hours.

The Parkhead winger returned from an 11-month injury absence at the weekend against Kilmarnock. Mikey came on for the final five minutes, and played his part in two promising moves.

This comes after he had to undergo surgery with a knee complaint (Glasgow Times).

It was a massive day for the youngster. Given it was his first senior appearance since a January outing at St Johnstone, he had every right to be buzzing. No surprises then that he took to social media to post the following message:

Mikey’s a popular man

As you would expect, the post attracted plenty of comments. However, it wasn’t only supporters who were chipping in.

Nope, former teammates such as Jonny Hayes, Timo Weah, and Calvin Miller were all amongst the well-wishers. They weren’t alone either.

The likes of Karamoko Dembele, Luca Connell, David Turnull, and Tony Watt all responded too. It appears Mikey is certainly a popular figure amongst the Hoops dressing room.

Here’s a look at some of the reaction to Mikey’s upbeat post:

Sunday was huge for Johnston. Not only because he’s back in the side after injury either. Celtic need him, and he’s back at such an opportune time. With no direct, pacey left-wing alternatives, it’s certain he’ll get his chances to impress.

Celtic have some big matches against sides you would expect them to beat. Johnston has a glorious chance to stake his claim now. He can do damage against any team in Scotland – it’s now down to him to prove it.

For now, he’ll likely be rooted to the bench. He’ll need some time to get himself back up to speed. However, when he gets there, plenty of Scottish defences are going to be in big trouble.

Mikey Johnston’s return is just as big for Celtic as it is for the player himself. The reaction to his social media post alone pretty much shows that.
