Celtic’s transfer business is still the focus of attention for the vast majority of the Hoops support.

With just over three weeks left of the transfer window to go, Brendan Rodgers is still to add new faces to the Celtic first-team squad since Shin Yamada joined the club on the 19th of July.

However, the club have not been shy in allowing some Celtic Academy players to leave this summer whether on loan or permanently.

And this week, Celtic have been told that they have just allowed one ‘excellent’ youngster to leave the club on loan this summer.

Mark Wilson lauds the loan signing of Celtic Academy talent Ben McPherson

Ben McPherson has left Celtic to join Partick Thistle on loan for the season ahead and Firhill boss Mark Wilson was delighted to capture the talented right-back.

Wilson told Partick Thistle’s official website, “Ben is going to be an excellent addition to our squad here at Thistle.

“He fits in perfectly with the ethos we have here because of the energy and effort that he puts into the game and, having come through at Celtic, he knows how to use the ball too.

“Like Josh Clarke, it’s not his first loan at this level so he’s got a good idea of what to expect from the Championship but at the same time he doesn’t think he knows everything and is keen to keep learning and developing.”

When Ben McPherson burst onto the Celtic scene

At 21, the young defender is still to make a single first-team appearance at Parkhead but McPherson has been around the Celtic first-team squad before.

In 2023, Brendan Rodgers invited him to train with the senior squad and even took McPherson with Celtic on their tour of Japan.

The full-back made an appearance for Celtic against Yokohama F Marinos but, as yet, is still to make his competitive debut for the senior side despite featuring 26 times for the B team.

Hopefully, McPherson gets the game-time he is looking for and everyone at 67 Hail Hail wishes him the best of luck for the season ahead.
