Prominent pundit Micah Richards has lauded Joe Hart ahead of tomorrow’s derby between Celtic and Rangers, feeling he’ll be pivotal for the Bhoys over the next four games.

Richards is a former teammate of Hart, so it’s not much of a surprise to hear him give a good review to the Celtic goalkeeper.

However, the former Manchester City star is insistent that Hart will be setting the tone as a leader in that dressing room.

Speaking to The Scottish Daily Mail [30/04 print edition, page 118], Richards said: “Joe Hart is just a brilliant character. Forget the footballer for a minute. If you ever want someone to be in the trenches with, it’s him.

“He works harder than everyone else. People talk about his natural ability but in the changing room he is one of the leaders. He’s one where standards don’t drop.

“There have been times where he’s been seen by some as, I don’t know… too emotional? But he’s not. He’s passionate. And he loves football.

“His experience going into the end of this title run-in for Celtic is going to be pivotal.”

Hart is one of a number of players who have proven to be massive signing hits with Celtic supporters under Ange Postecoglou.

The Australian and goalkeeping coach Stevie Woods appear to have reinvigorated a career that has mostly been spent on the sidelines in recent years.

Now the prime pick at Celtic, he has the experience and trophy-wining know-how to help get the Bhoys over the line in this Scottish Premiership title race – even if his shot-stopping ability is rarely called upon.
