What’s the most ridiculous view you’ve heard on yesterday’s Celtic game?
Store that thought and tel me it’s more ridiculous than this – the BBC were pro-Celtic.
Well, that’s the view of plenty of Hearts supporters on social media as they laid into the national broadcaster. Yes, apparently we were getting praised too much and not enough recognition was going to Hearts.
Celtic’s 4-3 penalty success against the Jambos was certainly enthralling. But unfortunately too much of the focus was on the Hoops throughout the entire game. Not enough of the spotlight was getting put on Robbie Neilson’s side.
Yes, you heard it right. Billy Dodds was apparently being biased towards Celtic. Former Rangers striker Billy Dodds. The same one who also couldn’t bring himself to admit Steven Naismith should’ve been sent off for a shocking stamp on Scott Brown. But aye. They were very pro-Celtic.
It’s really difficult to know what Hearts fans are getting at here. Their team was getting constant praise in the second half when they deserved it. But they also have to accept that they got back into the game due to horrendous errors from Celtic individually. Why wouldn’t commentators point that out?
All three of Hearts’ goals were a comedy of errors from Celtic. It’s no wonder that fact was getting brought up. Considering a loss for Neil Lennon also could’ve seen him sacked, it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out why it may have been discussed by the commentary team. They have to talk about the key points.
Hearts and Celtic both got credit when they deserved it
But make no mistake, the likes of Naismith and Liam Boyce were getting constant praise. Neilson also couldn’t be spoken highly enough of in the second half.
All this is at the end of the day is pettiness. It’s the Hearts fans simply struggling to come to terms with the fact we’ve beaten them again. And in another Scottish Cup final.

The BBC have actually been prompted into a response too. Speaking in comments published by the Edinburgh Evening News, a spokesman said: “Our extensive live coverage of this exciting final was fair to both sides.”
And it was. It was incredibly fair to both sides. It also highlighted the strengths and weaknesses of either team and tried to put an appropriate level of spotlight on both sides.
Nevertheless, check out some of these complaints. It appears we’ve really done a number on the Hearts fans with yesterday’s win:

In other news, Chris Jullien’s class tweet only highlights the magnitude of Celtic’s achievement.
