Hearts supporters produce bizarre conspiracy theory on John Souttar to Celtic link

It appears that the Hearts supporters aren’t taking the idea of John Souttar to Celtic very well.

The Scottish Sun reported last night that the Hoops have been credited with an interest in the player. This comes after a fine renaissance this season and his current deal being up at the end of the season. He could therefore be signed on a cut-price deal in January or on a pre-contract for the summer.

It remains to be seen if Celtic actually make their move of course. Rangers are also said to be interested along with a host of English clubs.

Souttar’s return from injury hell has seen him force his way back into Scotland contention too. His goal against Denmark last week has widely been seen as a landmark moment for the former Dundee United centre-back. And at 25, he can hardly be blamed for keeping one eye on his next move.

Celtic are due to play Hearts next Thursday in the Scottish Premiership at Parkhead. It’s a major opportunity for the Hoops to firmly put the Jambos in the rear-view mirror and go 4 points clear of them with a game in hand.

Hearts fans bizarrely whip up conspiracy theory over John Souttar to Celtic

And apparently, that’s the very reason as to why this story has been printed if you ask a certain element of the Hearts support. Indeed, the Sun clearly have an agenda of wanting Celtic to topple the Jambos, and they’ve whipped this story up in a bid to do just that you see.

It’s a totally bizarre conspiracy theory and it’s used constantly for some reason. I’ve never really understood why people would believe this kind of nonsense either. After all, how on earth is this meant to affect Souttar in a negative manner?

Is he sitting in his house just now thinking “Oh I’m unsettled all of a sudden and therefore can’t perform for the next 10 days”? It’s utter drivel. And let’s get real, players with some character to them would look at this interest and be even more determined to make their mark against the teams said to be interested in them.

It’s not unlike the Hearts support to find something to moan about of course. You’re not allowed to be interested in their players or else you’re accused of trying to unsettle them. Even if we were playing the Jambos in a month’s time this excuse would still be getting rolled out.
