Hearts supporters raging with Celtic Park shutout on Sunday
Hearts fans have unsurprisingly reacted with anger like they usually do when it comes to something involving a fixture against Celtic.
Whilst the Jambos were happy to keep Celtic fans locked out at Tynecastle on the opening day of the season, their fans aren’t accepting the idea of the same happening to them on Sunday.
Indeed, Celtic will meet Hearts in the Premier Sports League Cup second round this weekend. The Edinburgh club visits Parkhead only a fortnight after beating the Hoops 2-1 at Tynecastle.
And Hearts today announced that there will be no away fans allowed into the stadium this weekend. Why? Because the Hoops are having to close the main stand due to it being a “Red Zone”. This is an area of the stadium that must remain sterile to keep separation between the players and fans.
Hearts will know all about it. They have a Red Zone themselves [Hearts Twitter]. Regardless, Celtic have decided to move their season-ticket holders instead of allowing away fans into Parkhead. In other words, they’re prioritising their own supporters.
Hearts fans rightly locked out of Celtic Park
So long as red zones are in place, Celtic are quite right to take the action they have. We’ve always been encouraging the club to back its fans and give back to its own supporters. This is what Celtic are trying to do here.

Sure, many will argue that Celtic won’t get a full capacity crowd on Sunday anyway. After all, it’s a League Cup second round match. But given the fact fans can get back into stadiums again, plenty will be taking up the opportunity.
Celtic are right to prepare for fans to return in their droves once again. Going back to football remains a novelty at the moment. It’s not unreasonable to suggest Parkhead will be packed next week once again.
But of course, many Hearts fans have decided to look at this in the most negative way possible. Hearts fans who, if it had been the other way around, would likely be hailing their club.
Here’s a look at some of the reaction to Celtic’s ticket decision today:
