Celtic captain Scott Brown has called on the Scottish FA to do more to help Scottish teams when it comes to qualifying for European competition.

The Hoops are set to begin Champions League qualifiers next month. Brown hopes that Scottish football’s governing body does all it can to help the Scottish champions reach the prestigious competition.

“For me I think the SFA could help up out a little bit” he said, in a video on Celtic’s YouTube channel.

“Help us out a little”

“I think they can look at the fixture list. Here’s hoping in the next couple of years they can help up out and help everyone else out.”

Brown has at least has retired from international duty. Callum McGregor recently completed a 69 game season for club and country, which left him with only 12 days off until he returns to Celtic Park.

Perhaps in the future the SFA can find a solution to help Scottish teams.

Reintroduce sensible rule

In the past teams in Europe were able to postpone one league game that was directly before a European fixture. That would seem like a sensible idea to reintroduce.

However, the rule will not be introduced this season. For now, Neil Lennon must use his squad to the best of their abilities to navigate what looks to be a difficult start to the season. He will have to juggle both league games and Champions League qualifiers.
