Henrik Larsson has plenty of positive memories from his Celtic career, but there is one moment that will always haunt him.

Larsson is a Celtic legend and easily one of the best players in the club’s history.

He won everything there was to win and scored some brilliant goals, overcame the setback of a long-term injury and departed with everyone’s best wishes.

It’s hard to imagine the former Swedish international having any regrets, but there is one moment that he struggles to speak about.

Henrik Larsson still struggles to speak about UEFA Cup final loss

Domestically, Larsson won everything there was to win at Celtic, but the one trophy that eluded him was the UEFA Cup.

Celtic reached the UEFA Cup final in 2003, but they lost 3-2 to Porto in extra-time.

It was a bitter pill to swallow, and for the King of Kings, one he struggles to look back on.

Speaking to Charlie Mulgrew on his show, Pitch to Par, he said: “I still have trouble talking about that one. I still think that we deserved more. But you can’t say that. You have to say we got beaten.

“It hurts to say it, but with a team that was very good because the year after they go and win the Champions League.”

“I would rather not score a goal in that final and have us go on to win it.”

Henrik Larsson would go on to achieve European dream

Sadly, it was never to be at Celtic, but Larsson was able to fulfil his dream of winning a European title after lifting the Champions League trophy in 2006.

Larsson was playing for Barcelona and played a huge role in the final, laying on an assist for both of Barca’s goals as a second half substitute.

Even though it wasn’t to be with the Bhoys, the good memories will always outweigh the bad ones.
