Ange Postecoglou enjoyed himself at Celtic: The Musical last night as he and some of his players went along to view the latest edition of the show at Glasgow’s SEC Armadillo venue.

Postecoglou, Kyogo Furuhashi and Stephen Welsh were amongst those in attendance to take in a bit of the history of the Bhoys in musical form.

The entertainment revolves around the club’s humble beginnings with founder Brother Walfrid and manager, Willie Maley, through the barren 1950s and the trophy-laden ‘60s culminating in that famous victory in Lisbon in 1967.  The show also celebrates all the iconic moments on the road to the historic quadruple treble.

Asked in his pre-match press conference to give his thoughts on it all, Postecoglou delivered a glowing verdict [Celtic YouTube]: “Five stars! Is that how they judge them? It was a great night. Obviously, firstly it’s a great story. The cast do a great job and the production behind it is brilliant. It’s very much an interactive show – so the punters are just as much a part of it as the actors are. It was a great night.

“Everyone was there for a good time. It’s a great story anyway. It’s great for guys like Kyogo to be there. He’s fallen in love with this football club. He had Welshy sort of giving him the subtitles through it so I think he got the gist of most of it. It’s always great to be amongst our supporters. It’s well worth seeing. So that’s my review!”

You certainly sense the affinity Kyogo has for Celtic since he arrived in Scotland last year. That’s only going to grow as he settles more in Glasgow, with his English-language skills also coming on well as evidenced by a recent club interview.

Apparently, Welsh is a good interpreter for now, however!

Kyogo is a good bet to be back in the starting eleven for Celtic this weekend for the trip to St Mirren after some terrific form in the early weeks of the season. Adding to the six goals he’s already scored this term, on Sunday, will only increase his popularity.
