Micah Richards has revealed what Joe Hart has told him about the “inspirational” Ange Postecoglou.

Richards and Hart were teammates at Manchester City and appear to have stayed close friends ever since. The BBC pundit showed his support for the Celtic goalkeeper over the weekend too as he congratulated him on Instagram.

Hart appears to have rediscovered his love for football at Parkhead and has constantly spoken highly of the manager during press conferences and interviews.

And speaking on BBC’s Football Daily podcast, he’s evidently been giving glowing reviews to Richards as well. Speaking on the podcast, Richards said: “Joe just said he’s inspirational. He’s one of the best managers he’s played under. People are going to say ‘of course he’s going to say that because he’s playing him’. But he had a conversation when he first signed and Joe Hart said to him ‘all I need is a little bit of love and I will do my best’.

“The last couple of years before that have been a bit rocky. But he still believes in his ability and ‘if you give me the love I need, I will give you what you need on the pitch’. And you can see that with his performances. He says his training is excellent. He says he always wants to play out from the back no matter what.

“They stick to what they know. I thought the 2 centre-halves were outstanding, especially Carter-Vickers as well. But it was so good to see them stick to something that they know no matter how much Rangers tried to press them. Hart is absolutely loving life at Celtic and long may it continue. It’s nice to speak to him and he’s got a smile on his face.”

Joe Hart looks as happy as he’s been since Man City days

It’s been a struggle for Joe to find a club that will invest the level of faith in him that Postecoglou has. He’s had some hellish spells with the likes of West Ham, Burnley, and Tottenham Hotspur respectively. Not to mention a loan move to Torino that didn’t work out.

Hart was clearly looking to try something different this summer. Something that could help him rediscover his love for the game.

Sure, not many Celtic supporters liked the look of this signing. Despite what he managed to achieve with Man City and England, Hoops fans weren’t convinced. Particularly given the high-profile mistakes he’s made throughout his career.

However, we have barely seen those errors show themselves at Celtic Park. Outside of one clear mistake against AZ Alkmaar, Hart has been almost flawless for the Hoops. So much so that it’s difficult to see anything other than him being our long-term number 1.

It’s clear what he’s saying about Ange in the media isn’t just for show either. Richards’ comments tell us that much. And it says a lot for the manager that he’s considered one of the best Hart has ever worked with. Let’s not forget he played under the likes of Roberto Mancini, Manuel Pellegrini, and Jose Mourinho to name a few.

This was just the perfect marriage at the perfect time. No surprise to see Hart getting his deserved rewards.
