Hibernian star ready to team up with Celtic man Tom Rogic with Australia

Hibernian hero Martin Boyle has talked up his admiration for Celtic man Tom Rogic, labelling him a “nightmare” to play against.

Boyle and Rogic will both be on international duty with Australia next week. Graham Arnold has called up both men ahead of World Cup qualifying fixtures against China and Vietnam respectively.

Rogic has only managed one 90-minute game for his country stretching back to 2019. Boyle, meanwhile, has only managed six appearances for his country overral. The duo have only played with each other on three occasions with Australia, but both looked primed to be selected in the starting XI for their upcoming games.

And Boyle has bigged up Rogic as he spoke of his excitement at teaming up with him.

As quoted by Edinburgh Live, the Hibernian winger said: “I don’t think I’ve played much game time with him which is a bit frustrating for me because you want to be playing with great players.

“Personally playing against him, he’s a nightmare, so it’s not too great but it’s finally good to link up with him here and hopefully we can have some game time together and show what we can do.”

Hibernian man lauds Celtic hero Tom Rogic

It’s great to see Rogic back in the international fold once again. Whilst it’s frustrating to watch him jet halfway across the world when we could do with resting him, playing for his country is something Tom is clearly passionate about.

It’s something he’s been robbed of over the last couple of years due to injuries and a failure to impose himself in the starting XI. In truth, Rogic could do with another big performance for Australia to remind those back home of what he’s capable of.

The appointment of Ange Postecoglou has clearly been a big plus for Tom. It’s provided him with a familiar face to work with. More importantly, it’s provided him with a manager who understands the ability Rogic has. A manager that will show the patience required in order to get the best out of him.

Rogic should be placing a lot of thanks on Postecoglou’s shoulders for his Socceroos recall. It’s a massive boost for his career. Especially with it being only a year or so out from the World Cup.

He’ll undoubtedly look forward to teaming up with Hibs man Boyle too. The winger is in good form at club level, and has the intelligence to play alongside Rogic and help get the best out of each other.

Fingers crossed as always that Tom comes back healthy and ready to go once again.
