How Adam Idah fared on his Swansea City debut after an abrupt Celtic exit

It was a pretty quick exit for Adam Idah at Celtic.

Celtic crashed out of the Champions League to Kairat Almaty in an embarrassing fashion in August, and it proved to be Idah’s final game in the famous green and white colours.

That was a huge shame because the 24-year-old left many great memories for Celtic fans, including scoring the winner in the Scottish Cup final, but you sensed his time was up.

That’s why Celtic had no choice but to accept £7 million for Idah’s talents from Swansea City on transfer deadline day, and he made his debut for the Welsh club at the weekend.

Adam Idah makes Swansea City debut after Celtic exit

Before Idah could kick a ball for the Swans, he enjoyed himself during the September international break when he scored a crucial stoppage-time equaliser for the Republic of Ireland against Hungary.

Just after the hour mark, with Swansea leading Hull City 2-1 in the Championship, he was introduced into the action, and it was a quiet debut.

An Irishman did steal the headlines, but he was wearing Hull City colours when John Egan netted a 97th-minute equaliser for the Tigers, and the game finished 2-2.

How Idah reacted

It’s going to be interesting to see how Idah fares on his return to English football because he had a mixed time of it at Norwich City.

One thing is for sure: the pressure will be dialled down a lot more, and perhaps that will help his game because he was constantly under fire at Celtic.

‘Proud to have made my debut at home,’ wrote Idah on Instagram. ‘Onto Wednesday.’
