After a long wait, Leigh Griffiths could be making his Celtic return sooner rather than later. The player is fit and ready to feature for the first-team.
This was confirmed by Neil Lennon in a recent article on 67HH. He once again disclosed that the striker was available during Friday’s press conference ahead of the Livingston game on Saturday. Lennon announced to Celtic’s Twitter account that only Mikey Johnston and Christopher Jullien had fitness issues.

Now, just because Griffiths is fit that does not mean that he will feature against Livingston at any stage. After all, he has not played a minute of football this season. Also, Odsonne Edouard and Albian Ajeti have both performed well up-front for the Hoops this season.
Hoops need goals
However, there is perhaps one circumstance which could see Griffiths feature in the match. Celtic need to defeat Livingston by goals to go top of the league. If we look at the league table, Rangers’ goal difference is 15, compared to the Hoops’ 14.
Therefore, three points and at least a two goal win would put the Hoops where we belong, back at the top of the league.
However, lets say that it is 1-0 or 2-1 to Celtic with 15 minutes to go. The Hoops are striving for that goal against a stuffy Livingston defence.
Can be counted on to find the back of the net
If you are needing a goal, there is one man on the bench you would turn to – Leigh Griffiths. No matter what has happened in recent years, you can count on Griffiths to find the back of the net. He did it on a regular basis for Celtic before last season was brought to a halt in March.
Therefore, Griffiths could have a chance to once more become a Celtic hero and help the Hoops go back to the top of the league.
Of course, Neil Lennon may decide that the time isn’t right yet for Griffiths to return to the squad. He may feel that he is not fit enough. However, if you need a goal late on, the call could be made to Griffiths.
