Even though the domestic campaign ended weeks ago, the cries of Celtic’s title win are still being heard loud and clear.
But you sense that apologies are in order after SFA’s chief Willie Collum confirmed that Celtic’s penalty kick award against Motherwell was the correct decision.
As soon as the final whistle blew at Fir Park, the footballing world went mad after John Beaton punished Motherwell for handball in the dying minutes of the game and kept the title race in Celtic’s hands.
Hugh Keevins rightfully called out the nonsense that followed and the ‘shameful’ act that resulted in Beaton and his family requiring protection.
“It was a massive decision, and Willie Collum says it was the correct decision,” said Keevins on Clyde 1. “Ian Maxwell, the SFA chief executive, spoke about the effect this is having on referees. His remarks were chilling.
“John Beaton and his family were offered hotel accommodation; the SFA had to take them out of their own home, put them in hotel accommodation, in case of trouble. That is shameful.”
The VAR audio confirms what we already knew… but hysterical reactions continue 👀

Celtic critics need to accept Motherwell penalty call
Usually, Celtic are walking away with the title, but this season was different. Very different.
There were more eyes on Scottish football than ever before, and it’s normal if those people were backing Hearts for the title.
But it seems as though many neutrals, and those within the Scottish game, just couldn’t accept the call to award Celtic a penalty at Fir Park.
Keevins hit the nail on the head when he stated that all that matters are the ‘rules and regulations’, as well as VAR declaring that it was a spot kick.
But the Clyde 1 pundit feels that there are far too many people in the Scottish game who ‘can’t handle failure’ and ‘can’t handle success.’
“That’s the most important one of all (handball against Motherwell),” said Keevins. “Because it affects everything relative to the final day of the season when Hearts go to Celtic Park.
“It was a massive decision, and Willie Collum says it was the correct decision. Ian Maxwell, the SFA chief executive, spoke about the effect this is having on referees. His remarks were chilling.
“John Beaton and his family were offered hotel accommodation; the SFA had to take them out of their own home, put them in hotel accommodation, in case of trouble. That is shameful. Scottish football has discovered a personality disorder. We can’t handle failure. And now we can’t even handle success.
“We have had pitch invasions involving both of those emotions. People have to calm down. If you disagree with the penalty decision, be very welcome.
“But football has rules and regulations, and VAR has declared that it was a penalty. You just have to get on with it. If you don’t like it, it’s too bad, basically. Rules, regulations and VAR agree it was a penalty kick.”
