Wilfried Nancy came out swinging at his press conference on Friday.
The Celtic boss had endured a nightmarish run of four defeats in his first four games, before undoing the momentum of his next two wins by losing to Motherwell on Tuesday.
Until Friday, he had mainly been quite unconvincing with the Scottish press, insisting that he was unbothered by the noise surrounding the club.
But that wasn’t the impression on Friday, when Nancy gave an extraordinary seven-minute answer, defending himself and his career, and emphasising context among many other things.
Another thing he said was that if journalists ‘did their job’, they’d have a better idea of what he was trying to do. This unsurprisingly hasn’t gone down too well with Hugh Keevins.

Hugh Keevins on Celtic boss Wilfried Nancy
It felt like a defining moment in Nancy’s spell; a change of strategy with the media intended to show a bit more fight.
Where it will be looked back on positively depends entirely on whether he can turn Celtic’s form around.

Keevins isn’t convinced that will happen, though… on Clyde Superscoreboard, he discussed the extraordinary presser.
He said: “I looked at it. My grandson, who is a Celtic fan, showed me it. He’s a teenager, and he thought it was laughable.
“I think, at the point where he starts to whistle and everything… it’s not the way that he should be conducting himself.
“It wasn’t even a spirited defence of himself, because he kept telling the press to do their jobs.
“If they do their job and look into his record at Columbus Crew before Celtic took him on – the year 2025, he was doing nothing with them either!
“Defeats far outweighed wins, and somehow, Celtic took him on board. Now, he’s talking about the close season and the time needed to work with players.
“He’s brought in Julian Araujo from Bournemouth today, and he’ll play him tomorrow! So he contradicts himself overnight.
“Everything about it was ill-considered, ill-conceived, ill-judged.”

Celtic’s January transfer window with Wilfried Nancy
Araujo’s signing from Bournemouth is just a start for now; there are plenty of other names doing the rounds.
20-year-old winger Jocelin Ta Bi is of interest to Celtic, but Trabzonspor and KAA Gent are also in the race for the Maccabi Netanya man.
Ibrahim Diakite and Nacho Laquintana are two other attacking options being explored by Nancy.
As well as that pair, Diego Rossi and Wessam Abou Ali could yet follow him from Columbus to Glasgow… if he’s still in a job, that is.
