Read More"I advise you not to miss it"; Lubo tells Banik Ostrava all about Celtic supporters
Lubomir Moravcik has lauded the Celtic supporters and urged Banik Ostrava fans “not to miss it” when they turn up in the summer.
The Hoops are due to face the Czech Republic outfit after their pre-season tour of Austria with the game pencilled in for July 13th. The match is being held to commemorate Banik Ostrava’s 100 years in existence.
Lubo has been invited to the match as a special guest of Ostrava. But as of yet it’s still to be confirmed just how many tickets the Hoops supporters will receive for the game.
Moravcik has conducted an interview with the Czech club to preview the match however, and he’s urged their supporters to experience the unique Hoops fanbase for themselves this summer:
“I wouldn’t be surprised if it goes into the thousands [Celtic fans at the game]. Maybe at least two thousand. When Celtic play European cups and away games, usually around ten thousand come to see the team.
“But even if only two thousand fans come to Ostrava for a friendly, I advise you not to miss it. Even though I know that there is a lot of football fans in Ostrava, the atmosphere that the Celtic fans can create is something inimitable.
“I’ll put it this way. Liverpool or Manchester are probably further away in football today and are better known in the world, but in terms of fame or popularity, I think Celtic can boldly equal these clubs. Celtic is a miracle.”
Celtic fans will be out in force friendly or not
It doesn’t matter when it comes to the Celtic support. If it’s a friendly or a competitive game, the supporters will be out in force and will make themselves heard. It’s one of the reasons we firmly consider ourselves to have the best fans in world football. It’s why many of our players have said the same thing in the past.
Ticket details for Celtic’s pre-season games have still to be revealed. But given we’re not even out of May yet, that’s hardly a surprise.
We know regardless of the occasion the Hoops will be strongly backed. Not to mention the fact there’s already huge excitement over watching this Celtic side reset once more.
It’s going to be a long summer after securing a league and cup double last term. Supporters will just want to see Celtic back in action once again as we prepare to watch the evolution of this squad in year 2 under Ange.
Don’t be surprised if there’s an even greater interest in our friendly matches than in previous years. The cravings for Celtic action are normally high over the off-season, but they’ll be heightened even further this year.
And when it comes to the game against Banik Ostrava in July? Expect there to be plenty of noise coming from the Celtic end.
