Many think that the writing is on the wall with Brendan Rodgers at Celtic.
In terms of Rodgers’ contract situation, and the Celtic Park faithful hoping that he extends his legendary and trophy-laden stay in Glasgow.
The Irishman’s current deal expires during the summer of 2026, but given how Celtic’s 2025 summer transfer window has panned out, you now sense the worst and hope nothing reactionary happens.
Celtic-daft Alan Brazil and former Scotland striker Ally McCoist shared their thoughts on Rodgers, after that drab Glasgow derby at the weekend and the closure of the summer window.

Alan Brazil and Ally McCoist’s discussion on Brendan Rodgers after summer transfer window shuts
Not only are Celtic playing pretty abject football, but the board just haven’t helped out the man in the dugout, and Brazil and McCoist agreed that something ‘doesn’t look right.’
McCoist touched upon the 52-year-old’s ‘body language’, and how he would have been ‘unhappy’ with the players that were brought in and sold this summer.
The discussion also steered towards the hopeless Glasgow derby over the weekend, and how the lack of Scottish players, from both sides, might be an issue, as they told talkSPORT.
“By the way, I don’t want to fuel speculation,” said Brazil. “But Brendan doesn’t look right either.”
McCoist responded: “No, I agree, the body language. Let’s be honest, Brendan will be unhappy with the window, won’t he?!”
Brazil added: “It has happened before, but I just feel that there is something missing. I don’t want to say that the players aren’t playing for him, because that’s wrong. I don’t know what has gone on internally.
“But there are too many Celtic players that are like, ‘phfff.’ I am not saying that they don’t care, but they are totally different players from last year.”
McCoist then questioned: “I had a wee go yesterday, the lack of Scots in the Rangers team. Is there a wee element of that? I know you have to be good enough to play. I get all that nonsense.”
Brazil: “You are talking about the meaning of a derby, and what it means to the city and the Scottish nation.”
McCoist: “Aye, I mean, even look at the one last season at Ibrox. I know it’s going to sound stupid, but there were only two bookings, and they both came in the last two minutes. It was two of the young lads. One of the local boys at Celtic, the Irish lad (Johnny Kenny). And the local boy at Rangers. Maybe there is an element of that.”
Brazil: “There is something wrong.”
Rodgers’ record at Celtic in his second spell
Given how Rodgers left Celtic the first time around, not many thought that he would return, but then Ange Postecoglou’s exit opened the door for a pleasant surprise.
Yes, he has had to win over a fair few fans over, but that is water under the bridge now, and with four trophies locked in during the past two seasons, it has been another walk in the park for the Treble-winning legend.
This is what Rodgers’ record looks like in his second spell in charge of Scotland’s most successful club.
- Games: 114
- Wins: 78
- Draws: 18
- Losses: 17
- Goals scored: 300
- Goals conceded: 119
