Celtic goalkeeper has been speaking about the influence of Ange Postecoglou on the club this season, identifying why he’s been so successful.

Postecoglou walked into the Bhoys on his own in the midst of a global pandemic, setting about the task of revitalising the fortunes of a club on its knees.

He had to convince supporters along the way, of course, but his biggest task was getting this group of players to buy into his philosophy and trust him to take them on a title-winning journey.

From the sound of what Joe Hart has had to say, they’re all enraptured now.

Joe Hart loving Ange Postecoglou management style

He’s been speaking on the official club YouTube channel tonight and was asked about the impact of the Australian.

The goalkeeper said: “He’s been incredibly influential, simple as that. He takes it upon himself to lead from the front. I think he makes it pretty clear. His way of leading can go one of two ways, you’re either with him or you’re not and if you’re not he’ll move on.

“We’ve made it very clear that we believe in what message he’s got for us, what style he’s got for us. He’s kept it really, really simple. He’s kept it on a day-to-day basis. The standards are very, very high – that he sets himself, that he sets for all of us.

“I just love the fact that we’ve bought into it as a group. I like to have a leader, I like to follow. But you find at some clubs nowadays, some people aren’t feeling it and they can form groups or cliques. That is when it doesn’t work.

“I think everyone was hurt from what happened last year so we were always going to be united, but we’ve got a really strong leader with strong messages. I’m 35 and I’m excited to come in every day because I’m learning. I think that’s a great place to be.”

By all accounts, Postecoglou keeps his distance from players at Lennoxtown both in training and day-to-day activities. He of course has one-to-one interactions, but he’s not a friend to the group.

Nonetheless, he has their utmost respect. Hart has been about a bit, he’s seen a few managers in his time. Clearly, he feels Postecoglou is up there as an inspirational character in his career, even at this late stage.

It’s wonderful to hear and long may this relationship flourish at Celtic!
