Celtic manager Neil Lennon has not yet held discussions with incoming CEO Dominic McKay, he confirmed in his press conference today.
Celtic made the announcement earlier today that Peter Lawwell will step down from his role this summer, to be replaced by McKay.
It’ll be a period of enormous transition at the club and the end of an era.
Hopefully, it’s also the birth of a new direction after a dreadful season on and off the park.
McKay did not make reference to Lennon in his first message to supporters. The manager has now confirmed the duo are yet to have a chat.
Speaking on the official Celtic YouTube channel, the manager said: “I haven’t had dialogue with him.
“I only became aware of it this morning so maybe in time over the next few months, I will get to meet him or get to talk to him.
“It goes without saying he has everyone’s best wishes. Obviously, it’s a new environment but his record is fantastic. He’s obviously very well thought of by the board and Dermot [Desmond] and Peter.
“I think it is an exciting new chapter for him, a great challenge for him and he will get huge amounts of support from people at the club.
“He’s got a really good resume in Scottish Rugby. He knows how sports administration works. This is a different challenge but I’m sure one he’s very much looking forward to.
“He’s been a huge supporter of the club himself on a personal level for the last 20-25 years, so he understands what the values of the club are all about.”

It doesn’t take a genius to figure out that Lennon probably isn’t going to be the manager by the time McKay comes into Celtic.
With a new CEO in place, it would be highly surprising to see the manager continue given supporter feeling and the way this season has panned out.
Ultimately it may be largest shareholder Dermot Desmond’s call, but it’s the perfect time to let Lennon sail off into the sunset.
Celtic can’t afford to let off the field upheaval distract from very important football issues.
We need to breathe new life into that area of the club as much as any other.
