Jonjoe Kenny has family connections to Celtic and has insisted he’s signed for the biggest club in Scotland.

Kenny was on media duties this week ahead of today’s Motherwell clash.

As well as speaking to the broadcast press, he gave an interview to print reporters, providing a bit more insight into how he’s settling into Celtic and what it means to the play for the Bhoys.

Prior to signing, an Instagram post published by the defender emerged which showed him and a family member in football kits, one of which was the famous green and white hoops.

It got fans excited that he was a boyhood Celtic fan. Things aren’t quite that clear cut but Kenny explained that there are family connections to the Bhoys.

As quoted by The Scottish Sun, he said: “There’s a photo on social media of me next to my cousin in a Celtic top. He’s got family from Glasgow who are big Celtic fans.

“When I was younger, I used to have the kits and the tracksuits and that.

“Everyone knows Celtic is a worldwide massive club. For me, it’s the biggest club in Scotland right now.

“When I signed, it was a big deal for people in the family and especially for me, to come to a big club like this.”

Kenny will now have the opportunity to play at Celtic Park for the first time, albeit without fans in attendance.

He’s expected to be named in Neil Lennon’s line-up again for the match against the Steelmen later today.

The jury is out on Kenny and what his contribution to Celtic can be. Tuesday night’s match against Kilmarnock was a good start but, like the rest of his teammates, he has to show consistency over the next few weeks ad months.

In other news, Neil Lennon has been talking about pressure in the Celtic job.
