Andy Walker has dismissed the suggestion that Celtic star Callum McGregor should be dropped by Scotland for Lewis Ferguson.
Steve Clarke’s side are edging closer to booking their ticket for Euro 2024, with the midfield playing a huge part in Scotland’s success.
Boyhood Celtic fans Callum McGregor and John McGinn have played a huge part in that, with one extra push needed to get over the line.
But when it was suggested that either player should be dropped for Bologna’s thriving midfielder Lewis Ferguson, Bhoys legend Andy Walker was having none of it, as he told Go Radio.
Don’t fix something that isn’t broken. This just shows the depth of quality that Scotland now has to offer.
And with Callum McGregor taking his form up a level for Celtic on the domestic circuit and expressing that onto the international stage, then he certainly doesn’t deserve to be dropped.

Callum McGregor for Scotland
“I think there is always an element of loyalty from a manager when he has a squad and a group of players that have done well for him,” said Walker.
“I think the question you ask is. Who do you take out of the team to put Lewis Ferguson in?
On McGregor or John McGinn making way: “He has got great ability, Lewis Ferguson. But I wouldn’t be taking either Callum McGregor or John McGinn out of the team to put him in.”

Callum McGregor’s strong start
It feels as though the Celtic captain has gone under the radar during the early stages of the season.
A lot of the talk has been about the defence, the form of Matt O’Riley, Kyogo Furuhashi, Reo Hatate or Liam Scales.
But the man with the armband seems to have gone under the radar, as he continues to go from strength to strength.
