Celtic midfielder Tom Rogic has helped Australia to a World Cup qualification victory on his first international start since 2019.
Rogic hadn’t featured for his country since a 1-0 win away to Jordan way back in November 2019.
As we know he’s had his struggles at Celtic, most of them to do with injuries and fitness.

However, under new Celtic manager and former Socceroos boss Ange Postecoglou, Rogic is again approaching top form.
He was given a starting berth for tonight’s match against China in Qatar. Helping Australia take control of the game, it was his pass through to Martin Boyle that allowed the Hibernian forward to score the Aussies’ second goal of the game.
Australia would go on to net again in the second half, with the match finishing 3-0. Rogic was involved in the build-up, producing a wonderful pass that created the initial danger.
It’s the start to the World Cup qualifying campaign that Graham Arnold and his squad were looking for.
Rogic actually played 87 minutes of the encounter, signifying that he really is putting his fitness problems behind him.
A quick look on social media shows early rising Australian fans enjoying the Rogic performance, using phrases and words such as “world-class” and “imperious”.
It seems that those guys can see what Celtic fans are seeing – huge improvement in his all-around game.
Rogic and his international teammates will now fly off to Vietnam for their next World Cup qualification match.
