Celtic will break off for a couple of weeks to reflect while the March international friendlies take place later this month.

For some, it will be a chance to enjoy some time in an alternative environment amid the pressure of our ongoing pursuit of a domestic double.

On the other hand, the likes of Callum McGregor and Reo Hatate will stay on Scottish shores to put the finishing touches to their injury recovery.

Greg Taylor and Anthony Ralston provide representation in Steve Clarke’s squad and have a chance to stake a claim for a place at EURO 2024 in the Tartan Army’s upcoming fixtures against the Netherlands and Northern Ireland.

Further afield, Hyeongyu Oh and Hyunjun Yang have unfortunately missed out on being selected for South Korea’s double-header against Thailand in World Cup qualifying.

Interim boss Hwang Sun-hong has bucked the trend set by Jurgen Klinsmann, who regularly drafted both players into the fold during his stint in charge of the Taeguek Warriors.

Nevertheless, Yang may be given an opportunity to feature for their Under-23 side at the West Asian Football Confederation (WAFF) U-23 Championships in Saudi Arabia.

Three more Celtic players earn international recognition

In-form Celtic striker Adam Idah, Liam Scales and loanee Mikey Johnston have been selected by Republic of Ireland interim boss John O’Shea for their friendly encounters against Belgium and Switzerland.

Firstly, the Boys in Green take on Belgium at the Aviva Stadium on March 23rd, before Switzerland travel to Dublin the following Tuesday.

Since arriving from Norwich City in January, Idah has added a different dimension to Brendan Rodgers’ attack, registering five goals and one assist in his opening eight appearances [Transfermarkt].

On the same token, Johnston has managed to thrive away from the pressures of Parkhead life, scoring six times in his fruitful stint at West Bromwich Albion.

Many Celtic supporters travel over from the Emerald Isle to follow the Bhoys home and away, and they will have a vested interest in how all three players fare as the Republic of Ireland aim to start 2024 on a positive footing.

Rocco Vata and Bosun Lawal have also been called into the Irish Under-21 set-up for their UEFA EURO Under-21 qualifier against San Marino next Friday [Ireland Football].
