Celtic boss Neil Lennon has confirmed that Mikey Johnston will miss the Hoops’ league match against Motherwell on Saturday. However, he went on to say that he should be fit to take on Cluj in the Champions League qualifier.
Lennon made the announcement on the Hoops’ Twitter account ahead of the trip to Fir Park.
Johnston missed the first leg of the tie against Cluj with an injury. That was an unfortunate situation for the Hoops as Johnston had started the season in excellent form. It will be a real bonus for the team if Johnston is able to make the second leg against Cluj.
Injury could hand opportunity to former mainstay

On the other hand, Johnston’s absence could hand a rare opportunity to Scott Sinclair. Neil Lennon has confirmed that the winger is in the squad to take on Motherwell.
Should Sinclair return to the side and put on a good performance, it could give Neil Lennon an interesting selection dilemma.
Must start qualifier if he regains fitness

However, so well has Johnston started the season that you would imagine that should he be declared fit, then he will get the nod to start against Cluj.
The Hoops will be out to score goals in the second leg. Johnston has already proved that he is up to the task of doing that this season. Celtic fans will be hopeful that he can recover from his injury in time for the second leg. The Hoops will have a much better chance of qualifying if he is available.
