Celtic have a number of talented youngsters at the club right now.
With the international break upon us, many of Celtic’s players head off to represent their country, including the youngsters in the squad.
However, it’s a young Celtic striker that Republic of Ireland boss Heimir Hallgrimsson is waxing lyrical about.
And here, he tells Brendan Rodgers he has a talented player who has a great future ahead of him at Ireland.

Celtic told Johnny Kenny has a ‘big future’ in the game
The Ireland boss was preparing for World Cup qualifiers against Hungary and Armenia this week.
And as Troy Parrott pulled out of the squad due to injury, Celtic striker Johnny Kenny was called up to fill the Ireland void.
Hallgrimsson told the Daily Record, “I think he has a big future as one of our strikers in the squad. I know he is young, he has time to improve a lot. But I think he’s ready and we really want to work with him.
“I think there are a lot of similarities to how Troy would play. He’s very good at going in depth, he’s an energetic player, I’ve seen a lot of Rovers games from last year where he was always running in depth.
“Not only for the first minute, but consistently for 90 minutes. That was rewarded with late goals for Rovers last year.
“I was happy with him.”
Johnny Kenny’s record at Celtic, Shamrock Rovers, Sligo & Republic of Ireland
Kenny was loaned out for the first two years of his Celtic career.
However, now that the 22-year-old is a part of the Ireland international set up, how does his Celtic and Ireland record stack up?
| Johnny Kenny | Played | Goals | Assists |
| Celtic | 13 | 2 | 1 |
| Shamrock Rovers | 76 | 26 | 8 |
| Sligo | 34 | 12 | 2 |
| Queen’s Park | 12 | 0 | 0 |
| ROI U21 | 8 | 1 | 0 |
| ROI U19 | 5 | 4 | 0 |
Hopefully, Kenny gets his first cap over the next week or so and some much-needed game time ahead of Celtic’s domestic campaign resuming on the 14th of September against Kilmarnock.
