Soon-to-be Celtic man Ismaila Soro made a “personal plea” to join the club as talks threatened to stall – according to a report.

The Daily Record say that the Ivorian midfielder, who is expected to sign for Neil Lennon’s men this weekend, was so keen for the move to happen that he spoke to the President of current side Bnei Yehuda.

Barak Obramov reportedly wanted to squeeze more money out of us due to a peculiar term in Soro’s contract that sees his one of his former sides, FC Gomel, pocket half of the fee we pay for his services.

Celtic weren’t keen to raise their offer and it is believed that Soro then took matters into his own hands and asked Obramov to allow him to sign for Celtic.

The Record’s report reads: “It’s believed Soro made a personal plea to Obramov to allow him to sign for Celtic and the president relented.

“They also came to an agreement with his representatives.”

Soro could be a big hit at Celtic Park

The fact that Soro seems so committed to sign for the club can only bode well for his performances on the pitch.

Nobody can pretend to know a great deal about the 21-year-old but, already, his attitude seems to be pretty spot on.

He looks to have everything we need, judging from his highlights package on YouTube. Soro is quick, neat in possession but can also do the dirty side of the game well – something we could do with adding to our midfield.

Callum McGregor and Scott Brown have been pretty faultless over the past couple of years but Soro can definitely add something to our midfield, and perhaps take the burden off those two.

If the Ivorian shows the same commitment to the club after signing, that he has done already, then he will be a pretty big hit with the fans.
