Italian football journalist Nicolo Schira has reported that Enzo Maresca is the primary target for Celtic to replace Neil Lennon as manager of the club.
Schira, who writes and broadcasts for media outlets in his homeland, said on Twitter to his 119,000 followers: “Enzo Maresca is the first target of Celtic as a coach for the next season. Maresca is working with great results with Man City U23s.”

Maresca has been on the bookmakers’ favourites list for a number of weeks.
He’s also been discussed with the online Celtic community as a viable candidate for the role, despite never taking up a senior management position in football.
Maresca, a former player with Juventus, Sevilla and Olympiacos, works under Pep Guardiola at City and has the U23s side top of Premier League 2 playing an attractive brand of football.
His previous coaching roles were as a first-team assistant at Ascoli, Sevilla and West Ham United.
Maresca also spoke to a newspaper in Italy recently, talking about his football philosophy and life in British football.
However, he refused to answer the Celtic question when asked by The Sunday Post recently.
Celtic have also been linked with Man City employee Fergal Harkin with regards to the director of football position.
It’ll be interesting to see if this report from Schira firms up with English or Scottish outlets reporting similarly.
