Even Barry Ferguson seems to be struggling with some comments made by Rangers personnel towards Celtic recently.

Ange Postecoglou‘s side are ready to face their rivals at Hampden on Sunday, with the League Cup on the line.

As we reported earlier, forward Fashion Sakala was the latest to have a cheap dig at the Hoops, with the Ibrox side seemingly keen to do their talking off the pitch.

Sakala labelling us “the other mob” is cause for laughter more than anger, and the comments are hardly crime of the century.

Yet, they are the latest in a line which seem to highlight an obsession across the city.

Michael Beale has spoken about Celtic on multiple occasions recently, even branding Ange Postecoglou “lucky” at one stage.

Ex-Rangers captain Barry Ferguson doesn’t seem to be a great fan of Sakala’s chat ahead of such a big game.

“I always respected, always. Listen, that went out the window when you crossed the white line. But I think you have got to give respect.

“If you are not respectful, I think there’s only going to be one outcome. Nine times out of 10 you are going to get a slap in the face.

“So it’s interesting to see what Sakala has said there.” (The Go Radio Football Show Podcast, 1 hour 18 mins)

In sentences I never expected to type on this site, Ferguson may actually have made a good point.

Rangers are leaving themselves open to a fair amount of ridicule if things don’t go their way on Sunday.

We know this Celtic team is the most talented in the country. It may be a mistake to antagonise us.

We’ll see how things go on Sunday.

In other news, Sead Haksabanovic could be Celtic’s secret weapon on Sunday
